Default Checking the jet size

Is it possible to determine what jets my carb has without removing the carb itself? Can I take the float bowl off and see? Minimal disassembly is the goal here. Thanks in advance!

I've read of a few people here who said they did it but it would take just the right lighting and a magnifying insperction mirror. I had trouble reading mine even after I had them out in my hands with a magnifier glass.

If you are looking to stage 1 rejet on an 04 - 06 model, you could buy#45, #175 & #180 jets and probably have a 90% chance of having what you will need. They are only about $3 each.

I've read claims of people doing a complete re-jet without removing the carb. And I suppose it's possible. In my case, there is no way I could accomplish that. Eyesite isn't good enough, fingers aren't that nimble, etc etc. Removing the carb really isn't very difficult.

Yes, you can do that. Drain the fuel, remove the float bowl, use a mechanic mirror, you should be able to see the numbers stamped on the surface of each jet, you do not have to remove the carb to see the jet size.

After doing it the first time, I can rejet mine now in about 20mins including removing and replacing the A/C, without removing the carb. The carb does have to be loosened the first time to remove the mixture screw plug if your bike has one. If the bowl screws haven't been replaced with SS hexhead allen screws you will want to do that when you reinstall the bowl.

Thanks for the input fellas. I want to check because I bought it used, and while I assume it's jetted properly (SE slip ons and K&N filter) for stage 1, I feel like its running lean. I'm getting some blueing on the rear pipe, it pings when under high torque and the temp is above 190 degrees, among other things. I don't have a big problem taking the carb off but would like to avoid it if possible. I don't want to monkey with the throttle cables, either. Thanks again!
