Check your Enricher

Check your Enricher
Do the plugs look rich occassionally? Has your bike been running rough since day one? Have you been cleaning your carb periodically in the hopes that things will improve?
It seems that a handful of sportster owners have been getting bad enricher cables. I just had mine replaced and it solved some issues I had with my bike. The performance has improved and the bike is a lot happier to rev higher. It also eliminated a vibration problem I had in second gear. The bike would not like to go past 30mph in second gear and would vibrate the most in this range. Now, no problem. Here's a little subtle detail. My enricher cable "clicked" when pulling it out and pushing it in. I didn't know this wasn't normal until a mechanic pointed it out. The important thing was that the cable was damaged and my 05 xl1200C isn't the first to experience this. It doesn't seem very wide spread but I'm going to jump the gun and say a handful of bikes have had some bad cables or they're prone to get damaged.
So now it seems my bikes carb gremlins are done with. [sm=massbounce.gif]
Here's a better description on a sportster forum:

I hope somebody finds this useful.

RE: Check your Enricher
My enrichener cable would slide out about 1/4 of an inch when I ride. It wouldnt happen all the time but most of the time and when I does, I can tell because the bike runs funny and burps, farts and looses a little power. I brought it buy the dealer and they tightened the cable for me. Hopefully this will fix it but if it doesn't, I'm going to ask for a replacement under warranty. Thanks for this info 1200c....

RE: Check your Enricher
Mine was recently replaced (04 Sportster 1200 C). I experienced every problem mentioned above. It still does not work perfectly. If I pull it out all the way, it will creep back in to about 3/4-1/2 on, after a few moments. It will alsao creep out a 1/4 inch, even after I push it all the way in.
