Mileage Issues
Can some one help me please. I have a 01 carbed 88b. I was getting 40 miles to the gallon before I broke the choke cable and replaced it with a Mikuni cable, because info from the mikuni web site. I have free play in the cable, what would be causing me not to get the previous milage fiqures? The jet is the same, and I replaced the plastic nut to holds the cable.

Not sure. I haven't dealt with a carb for awhile. Take off the air cleaner and watch the butterfly work. It should be fully open when the choke button is pushed in. I think the slack in the cable is probably the problem.

if your running a cv style carb, go get the correct cable from your hd dealer. it's actually not a choke, but an enricher. same effect...more fuel on start-up. an incorrect cable WILL NOT allow the enricher piston to fully close. your running on the rich side all the time, thus the poor mileage. fouled plugs soon to follow. usually the rear one first, steve
