Default Help me modify my 2004 Sportster with 1200 Kit

I have a 2004 Sporter with a 1200 kit that I want to modify it for when I ride mostly paved but some dirt & gravel roads near Mound City and some city riding in St. Joe. In the future I'd like to have a Sportster Bobber like the utube guy J.D. Miller - Sportster Bobber - Joe Hunt Magneto, Led Sled Kicker, Paughco Single Downtube Frame . But for now I want to have something that is as safe as possible just in case anyone else in my family decides to ride it.

2004 HARLEY SPORTSTER UPGRADES
1. New LED Headlight, Tail Lamp, Indicators.
2. Pulse Module for breaklamp
3. Bung King Crash Bar
4. 2 discs in the front. For the strongest stopping power would I need to use Brembo calipers with Lyndall rotors and pads?
5. Upgrade any brake lines with stainless steel lines
6. Total rebuild of the forks
7. Rear Shocks with fully adjustable Units
8. Suspension Setup - correct spring weights and damping for cruising around the roads of Mound City Missouri and occasionally going from Joe to Mound City.
9. Tank lift relocating ignition and coin to the side of the motor if possible
10. install buzzer bass for turn signals
11. New Tires
12. New Bearings
13. New Rubber Bushings or go rigid with solid motor mounts? http://hardtailchoppers.com/2004-up-sportster-solid-motor-mounts.html .

The 2004 had a rubber motor mount that was new for that year.

I'm open to any ideas or suggestions. I have no idea what kind of 1200 kit is on the 883xl

If you're going to hardtail it, I would suggest using solid mounts for the motor. I ended up having to do that on my short chop 04. Have fun with it!

I did the LED headlight and taillight on my 08 1200 Roadster and they are a big improvement plus safer since the stoplight illuminates much quicker than an incandescent bulb...but wouldn't bother going LED on the TS bulbs. Installed the HD SE fully adjustable cartridge fork kit and like it, went with basic Ohlins in back and they work well too. Also installed a 16+ Roadster rear wheel in back so I could go to 18" and run better tires AND because 16's don't look right to me on a Sportster. Unfortunately the matching front wheel won't work with narrow glide forks. I'm happy with the stock dual disc front brakes as is. Running Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires front and back and they work great wet or dry and on dirt roads.

Welcome to the forum.

As Dude said before go with a solid mount wen you hardtail it as for other mods.... make it your own, take a look at all the pictures on HD forums , FB and google some.
