It's a problem with individual riders, doesn't matter what make of bike they ride.
I'll take that a step further and say the problem is with individual people. If someone is an a-hole walking down the street or in their car, they will be an a-hole on a bike, no matter what kind.
Yeah, that's true, but you know as well as I do that some of the mildest, nicest people youknow (at work or during their normal 'day to day' activities) will hop on their bike and automatically assume theyhave become a 'bad boy biker' that demands respect.
I agree with all of these statements, as well as all the other posts so far. I'll ride with just about anyone. I ride with people from work who are on BMW's, Honda, Harleys, Yamaha's,etc. Just don't think you deserve respect cause you bought a bike, no matter what brand.

I'm of the opinion that negative attitude towards other makes of bikes is displayed mostly by alot of people that ride Harleys. Alot of them think they're way cooler than they really are.

I noticed the same thing lately. There is a large biker spot in Dallas that draws a big crowd and you should see all the goofballs that think they are total badasses just because they pull up on a Harley. I am a people watcher. I watch everyone I can and how they watch and interact with others. It always seems to be the guys on Harleys that snub their noses or give strange looks to others even if the other person is on a Harley.

I got mine because I like it, not because it makes me better or a badass.

I have 60,000 plus miles riding. I have rode in Europe, Canada and the good old USA. I have riddeneverything from a Vespa (Europe of course) on up including some bt's. I have never seen so many posers as I do at the Dallas Hotspot bhtx is talking about.

Ive had the big dresser HD riders snub me, and at the same time ive had a hells angel on an old rigid HD pull up next to me with his woman on the back, and look over at me and give me the thumbs up and yell "whats up my brother?" Youd think if anyone would snub you it would be a hells angel on an oldschool bike. Those same ******** that snub you on thier expensive brand new harleys are the same ******** at work that stab you in the back to work thier way up the ladder. I truly agree with the statement that people ride thier bikes with thier personalities. If your a nice person you will wave and be happy that there are other riders around you in general. If your an ******* youll think whatever you do is great, and everyone is **** and doesnt deserve the time of day.

I work at a hospital and rode to work one day and there was this ducati, an expensive one riding behind me. I had my eye on him for a while, he had a really expensive nice ducati. I watched him split lanes, cut other drivers off, and generally drive like a complete ***. He caught up to me, i pulled over in my lane to allow him next to me at the light, nope he stayed behind me and revved his engine really loud like an ***. When the light turned green he sped past me in MY lane, scared the **** out of me. Funny thing is, at the end of our journey guess who had to pull up right next to me at the hospital parking spot for MC only? Yep it was him. He pulled off his helmet and it was some little weasly Doctor. I had seen him there before, he was quite an ***. I said "Hey man you were driving like a complete idiot back there, and scared the **** out of me when you passed by me in my lane, didnt think youd see me again did you?" At which point he aplogized and said he cant help it he becomes a maniac when he gets on his bike. He laughed, and when i didnt he promptly turned and got out of there. So it just goes to show you, an ******* on a bike is surely an ******* in his own life as well.

I accept all riders regardless of what they ride, and I ride with folks on just about every kinda bike there is, except scooters.
I can top that, I do ride with scooters! Well, a few times at least...

A good friend of my dad's was in a motorcycle accident a couple years ago and recently had a bout with colon cancer. He has a hard time moving his right arm so the Road King is parked in the garage. But in the meantime, he is riding a Yamaha scooter just so he can be on the road.
Oh, I didn't mean I wouldn't ride with a scooter, there just are really VERY few of them on the road here. I see maybe 1 or 2 a year. I only know of one place within 50 miles of Nashville that sells them. I'm sure there are others, I just don't tend to stop at those retail establishments.

Yeah, I know. It was just recently I rode with this guy for the first time, so I figured I would rub it in a bit.

The problem as I see it is the underlying psychology of your "average" crotch rocket rider. Their bikes keep them in the "I'm ready to race " posture all the time. I don't want to go on a rant, but those who choose an American Made HD are different from those who choose otherwise.

This is exactly how I (and I imagine others) feel. It's funny. I ride with a friend who has a BMW and he just sold a Ducati and replaced it with a GSXR. We have gone on a couple weekend runs and one time we were at a hotel when a large group of guys on cruisers pulls in. He then wanted to bet me that a fight would break out at some point, or that the cops would have to be called in. The next trip he would comment at dinner that Harley riders never wave and comments on attitude. Well, as far as the bet he wanted to make I told him he had seen too many movies and, of course, they were really nice guys. A few complimented my friends BMW GT. As for the attitude he commented on, well, I saw plenty of Harley guys wave (I was also on a BMW at the time, so it wasn't the motorcycle). However, we did have a couple guys coming out of Palo Duro Canyon completely blow us off which seemed to upset him more than me.

I imagine some people think that one gets a Harley just to show off, but the fact is I looked at all the metric cruisers and dug the look of my Harley more. Hell, if I could save a few thousand bucks and get a metric I really like the look and sound of I would love to, but you have to go with what appeals to you. I'll end the rant now.
