He might be figuring the pump to the dispenser will be full of the previous buyers gas fill. No telling how big the pump is or how much its hanging onto till you direct it to fill from a higher octane tank. Could be very little or it may be up to a gallon who knows? It's a logical argument and worth further discussion. Someone who works in a service station and has in depth knowledge on the subject would be helpful.
The pumps in the UK have a separate pipe for each fuel.
I am not sure it is any more important in the US as anywhere else but if you think your pumps with a single nozzle is a problem perhaps the companies that supply the UK saw it as one and acted accordingly.

So the UK pumps have a different hose for EACH octane rating of fuel? We have one for gasoline and one for diesel. Octane is selected by a push button on the pump.
You need to get on with buying that Electra Glide - then all your storage problems will be history!
Although that is not the cheapest solution, it would be the most fun. I am giving serious thought to the LidLox device. If it were a half helmet with nothing on it, I might not be as concerned, but it is FF modular, and has my Sena 20S, which I can pop off and take with me, but the base part is still valuable as well.
I currently use a cable and can lock 2 helmets with it, but its slow to use, IMHO. About 2 months ago, doing a grocery run, as I was coming back out to the bike, it started raining. I got pretty wet just unlocking the helmet. Unless its pouring, I can usually keep dryer if I am moving, usually!
do you like amsoil? cause you know it is not api rated
No, I use Castrol GTX 20/50 or Valvoline VR1 20/50 dino oil for the engine, Bel Ray Sport Transmission oil in the primary.
Why don't you fill up that hose you refer to, and show us how much it holds. My sister lives in Missouri, the Show Me state. So, as she would say, "Show me."
