The speedo is CAN bus and has a complete harness that also drives the led indicator lights for neutral, oil, turn, etc.
So long as you don't go and mess up the wiring I don't see why it cannot be relocated, what issue is there with the wiring? If you mean people blindly cut and screw around without a diagram then they get into trouble fast.
I heard to relocation speedometer on 2004 and up sportster have an issue of wiring. Any hack or any idea? Thanks.
I wouldnt necessarily say the wiring is an issue. It depends on what your plans are. Are you relocating the speedo and the indicators? If so, you should be fine. If youre keeping the indicators on the handlebar clamp and moving just the speedo, then you might need to extend the wires. Thats what I did. It was easy. All you need is some 18-20 gauge wire, self soldering tubes, some EZ Fuse tape, and either a heat gun or blow dryer. It takes maybe 15 minutes.
