I recently purchased a D&M CustomCycleair filter. They sent the wrong breather bracket, and now the thing is mounted straight up and looks like a f!@#$%$ snorkle lmao... I had to mount the filter in order to have the bike dyno tuned, otherwise I would have just waited for the right bracket to arrive to install it. It will probably look good when it is horizontally mounted... For now it is a small stain on my soul though .Ordering new parts can be very trying to my already limited patience. I wish God would have allocated me a little more of that virtue.... oh well [8D]

Odd. I've installed some HD parts, and some non-HD and, if anything, I've had trouble with the non-HD parts (though it was always very minor trouble). One of the heat shields on some V&H pipes I ordered had a touch of rust inside it, and the manufacturer install method for the Kuryakyn grips I got didn't work so well (went with golf grip tape instead).

Actually, there was one HD part that didn't work as preferred. I got the locking clamp for a removable sissy bar and even though the product description says it works on an '06 Sportster sideplate, it really does not. The part was solid, though. Just their marketing documentation was faulty.

I was meaning "the craftsmanship of parts in general", and was intending to point this towards HD or any specific manufacturer. I know parts are outsourced to other companies, as I previously stated. I was venting about companies scimping on quality material for a quality finished product. The craftsmanship I was refering to was the lack of quality assembly on the two piece nut that wasn't crimped right on not one, but apparently two of the same sissy pads that I had received. I was also refering to the crappy plastic backerboard that this nut was supposed to be attachedto thatwasallowingthe nut to pull through it when I tried to attach the pad on two different occasions.I was just venting about spending $50-60on a part thatactually shows to be less than $5 worth of material, and then having to fix/upgrade on the design. They could have useda thicker plastic, better nut/mounting system, or even a metal platewith the nut welded onto it.

that's sucks, good luck with your custimization of the part. My 89' back pad was a POS but I had got the bike in Feb. and let a bud use it one day and the cheap particle board got to wet and was coming apart at the screw that held it on[:-]Did you make it to Mountainfest?

You gotta be careful when asking God for more patience. He usually gives you plenty of opportunities for you to develop it on your own! LOL

All is well on the sissy pad right now. It seems very sturdy. I also got my new Ultima Gel two up seat installed. Not sure about it yet, as it moved me forward more than I like. [:-]No, I didn't make it to Mountainfest. Hopefully I will make next year. I had my daughter that weekend. Iviewed your pictures in the other thread...Looked like a nice time.
