Default Cables for handlebar change

Have a new set of 12" Z bars with new grips, and all the trimmings. The last thing needed to complete the changeover for my 2006 Sportster 883XL is the cable kit. Burly has been out of stock for months for the complete kit, and no estimate of when/ if they'll be available. Amy other recommendations I should go with to get this project done? I can't seem to find anything out there that's available, that has longer clutch/ throttle/ brake and wiring extensions. Suggestions appreciated.

Yawn 🥱 Barnett, motion pro, or order everything separate from different companies. Yes, that requires a little bit of research and snooping. Some of us did this before the nets and had to gamble a bit. Covids, riots ect. Not everything is in a kit, but does require a little research and manual measurement ect. Yes, I’m brass AF. Take the advice or complain idc. Good luck mate

Kits didn’t exist when I first started messing around with xls and if they did I didn’t have access unless one of the biker mags or drag specialities books had them listed ect.. if you wanna a full on kit it might be difficult to find with the above mentioned. Trying to be straight forward and to the point 😆

Ha, last week I too decided to get apes and all I did was walk into the dealership and asked for longer everything. Parts guy was very knowledgeable and ordered a longer clutch cable, a longer brake line, longer wiring and a turn signal wire extension.

Out of all of the bits I made my own wiring extensions. Bought the wire and connectors and crimped them on myself just like you get in the Burley kit. That's the easy bit.

I was something in a hurry and went to a guy who supposedly knew everything. He supplied Barnett control cables.

I can't remember the brake line manufacturer but it is just braided line with the banjo connectors on.

Nice intro...FWIW - those "Z" bars are a PITA to pull wires through so dust-off your swearing manual.

- For electronics (lights & ctrls) - Custom Dynamics actually sells extension kits: https://www.customdynamics.com/handl...-touring?cat=2
*Note: Even though it says "Touring" - wiring is wiring...should work.

- For Throttle/Clutch/Brake - Magnum Shielding: https://www.magnumshielding.com/

Thanks for all the tips people. This is my first go around on a project like this, so I'm a bit of a greenhorn in that regard. I got a bit oversaturated looking online and wound up confusing myself even more. But, your suggestions have helped narrow it down some. Gen-Xer and still learning about bike maintenance, 🤣 and I tend to bite off more than I can chew. Trying to avoid making big mistakes on this particular project.

Link to Barnett catalogue. It shows how they measure their cables.

http://www.barnettclutches.com/media/BarnettCatalog.pdf

When I changed the cables on my bike I put the existing cables on and made up the difference in distance from the end of the outer to where it goes with string and then measured the total length.
