I removed them on my wife's 2006 custom and added DK's Thunder Torque inserts. Sounds good and runs good. It is pretty loud but that's what she wanted.

Naw man, I want my motorcycle to be so loud it makes my ears bleed. I don't care if it runs good or not just so I can **** every one off that I ride by on the road. Especially early in the morning when they are trying to sleep. Yippee.

Actually he has a 2 into 1 system on his Sportster.
Wouldn't be too bad but,
1. The old carburetor bike needs to warm up a bit before he can make it up the hill out of the neighborhood.
2. He goes to work at 0430 in the morning.
