I vote for the sundowner also.....Mustang might be just as good or better but there wasnt a dealer near me and I had a friend with a sportster and sundowner that I got to try before I bought it and I have no regrets in it

You may get the Harley pillow top for a little less than the sundowner. It is a similar shape, very nice ride, and gets a lot of compliments. Your gal will love it.

can't say much about the Mustang, but i went with the Sundowner. Works great and much, much better than stock. I think on your 1200C it will look much better than it does on my 1200R. That's my only gripe with the Sundowner, it's just much wider, but need that for the comfort, so it's a compromise.

I am not real happy with the Sundowner but over stock it is a 100% improvement. I am 5'10' and do not feel real comfortable. I have an `07 1200L and that may cause it to seat different with the ECU sitting under the seat. I have not tried the Mustang seat and don't want to spend the money and be dissapointed.

Bought the Sundowner for my wife's07 1200L, at first thought it was going to be good. First ride out she stopped said take it off. She said she sit up too too high and too close. I rode it too, and didn't like it how the ride was. Wife really really struggled with control, sitting up so high. Maybe it is just not the right seat for the 1200L's. I don't know. I do know I am looking at other seats for her. Been reading about the HD Rally Runner. So any suggestions or thoughts appreciated.

I have to admit that the Sundowner did take a little bit of getting used to.

At first, it felt weird when compared to the stock seat. My 2007 XL1200L has mid mounted pegs. Initially, I sat myself too far back in the bucket and felt that my hips were being pushed forward. It just wasn't balanced ... and I felt like I was perched up too high.

Now, I've kinda found my natural comfort zone when on the mid pegs. I just settle into the middle of the Sundowner's bucket. When I switch to the highway pegs, my butt naturally settles back into the rear of the bucket which gives some nice relief on longer rides.

Seems like the sundowner will push you forward, might be good for someone short but not me.

I have a 1200R with stock seat. I seem to have 2 issues with comfort. One, I seem to be wanting to sit back more. I find
myself trying to back up and am nearly sitting up on the backrest portion of the stock seat. (I'm 5' 11", 180lbs) I also find
myself hunched over alott, not sitting up straight, kills my back. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you
do? I'm thinking of changing the seat then the bars but would like some input from anyone with simular experience.

(Sorry to take over the thread but seems like the same topic. )

This may or may not make sense to some... but as for the SD pushing you fwd., on bikes with taller shocks with the seat more flat or level it will tend to feel like its fwd. but with customs, lows or bikes with lower rears it sits the same if not a little farther back as the stock seats. This is just my observations having used both the Mustang and Sundowner for a few thousand miles. I think the newers 07 models with with the ECM mounted on the fender the seat changes do move the bucket of the seat further fwd. as to accomodate the electronics under the seat.
I think the SD is a good, affordable seat and if you want the seating position changed a little and made even more comfy send it off to http://www.meancitycycles.com/and have them reshape it and add some better mem. foam. I'm thinking of doing the same to mine this winter.
