I found an extremely old picture showing the Reach seat - but it's at an odd angle so
I dont know how much it'll help you visualize it on your bike. This pic does not
have the pullback risers installed and the associated "stuff" that has to change.
It might be easier for you to get different "pullback" bars/cables...
Nice... Right now I am thinking of getting something like the Lo Chizzled bars from HD. That will give them a bit of height and get them closer. I would angle them back a little.
Just purchased my first bike, 2020 Iron 883, but need some assistance getting to the proper fit. I am short 5'5" and about 200 pounds. I have a long torso and shot arms/legs. I am not flat footed when sitting on the bike. First question: Could I upgrade the hard rear stock suspension get it about 1 inch lower with more cushion? I am willing to drop 300-700$ on shocks if that is what it takes. If I do replace the rear shocks, is it best to change the front too?
2nd question: My reach is short and i am almost straight armed when sitting on the bike... I would like to be more upright with bent arms! Do i need new handlebars or is there a riser that would give me lift and less reach? Or, is there a good set of handle bars that would take care of the issue?
Thanks all!
Pic of her at the lot... None yet at home
Congratulations on your first Ride!
To get flat footed, a lower profile seat is an option, as are shorter shocks. Here is a Rear Suspension Report that has some good comparison info to consider if you go that route.
Before spending money on a bunch of parts that end up sitting around...check out the video below. It will show you how to set up your ride for YOU. What works for others will not necessarily work for you. It is important to know where your butt, feet and hands need to be for the best comfort and control for YOU. Only after you have that information can you start looking for parts that will achieve that.
Awesome information!! Thanks! The suspension info is perfect. I am looking at the stage1 suspension kit on the Custom DK website because I am not building it to carry passengers.
I did a lot of seat shopping on Revzilla last night and found a Le Pera Silhouette seat that bumps up the rider 3 inches towards the bars. I ordered it. I am hoping it will solve that issue for me! Then i can just focus on performance and style!
