Well ! I noticed a bit of feel difference in my bikes handling and though the tires have run only 7.7 k decided to approach the dealer. I was told that the rear needs replacement.
Is this legit ? From what I read on here the rear should last 5-6k miles or appx 9.6k km.
Is that the factory crap tire ?..i noticed a huge improvement when i changed to michelin commander II..been using that tire since about 5k miles.looks like you still have some tread left .mine became very slippery and was causing some instability on dry pavement.too hard of a compound imo
Yep ! Thats the oem crap tyre . We are facing a huge shortage of tyres at present (Covid and an import ban). The me 888s are not available at the moment. Wonder if I can wait a bit before I swap, these tyres even when new left a lot to be desired.
You have done 7.7K and you read the tyre should last 5 to 6k. I would say that is a win for you.
If the tyre has markers in the tread then you can wait until they are flush or unless where you are there is a specific depth to stay within the law.
In the UK the legal limit is 1mm across 3/4 of the width of the tyre. Most people change before then knowing that we have pretty bad weather most of the time.
Difference in miles and kilometres mate! I have done 7.7 k kilometres not miles which is the issue. I also dont cheap out on the tyres as we never know where and when rain will strike (to say nothing of the roads).
as for the burnouts - I have not done it ever and would never do it - fraid too!
My bike came with Michelin Scorcher 11. I had got to 12K miles when I found a screw in the rear tyre. No idea how many more I could of got. Still life left in the front.

i ran mine almost bald before i changed.as long as your careful in the rain and curves,u should be fine.

Assuming you purchased your bike in India, does it come standard with the Michelin Scorcher 31 ? (just wondering)
I can tell you that my Iron's stock Scorcher 31 lasted longer than the stock Dunlop that came on my FLS Slim....
Yes - thats the tyre , Michelin scorcher 31. Absolutely wants to curl up and die the minute it sees a bit of aggregate on the road. Not much of a leaner so no ideas about the lateral grip.
getting scorcher (oem 31) and an Avon cobra chrome for the rear. Will it be safe to run the Avon as a rear tyre till I can find the matching front tyre ? To clarify this configuration will have scorcher 31 in front with an Avon as rear tyre.
If I get the rear scorcher I will be again stuck with the oem fitment - any inputs guys ?
