Mine will be here Friday. Its replacing a Yuasa. Hope its a good one. Yeah, that reminds me, I've got some front brake pads to put on. Need to flush the system as well.
Afternoon Apache - I don't have that number but this one (MBTX12U):
Nice and yellow innit? I'm not impressed as it struggles to start my Sporty (but so did the H-D battery). Also, if I don't keep it hooked up to the solar charger, it cannot hold charge after a year. Mine was cheap, so there is that... It's the second one I've had and I'm still using the one I got about 18 months ago 'cos the solar charger keeps it working: so far, so good. But it's not got the 'cold cranking amps' I'd like.

But, cheap is cheap!

That's the one I've just taken out ( came with the bike ) . It always struggled to crank the engine but the bike never actually failed to start . The fact that it sits on a plastic tray to make it bigger should tell you all you need to know . It might be better in an 883 .
I put mine in yesterday. It is 240 CCA the same as the Yuasa GYZ16HL. The Yuasa did a good job till this year. It would start the bike but really slow. It was going on 5 years old. The Motobatt starts my bike fine just like the Yuasa did when it was new. My bike is a 1250 with 10.5 to 1 compression so its harder to turn over than a stock bike. So far I'm happy with it if it will last as long as the Yuasa.

Oooooh, I like the sound of a 1250 bore kit. Bit jealous now... This CCA stuff was all new to me, but 240 sounds impressive. I assume the MBYZ range is bigger, better and more powerful than my MBTX so it sounds like you dun betterer than wot I did. If it starts a 1250 with high compression, you're on to a winner!
Cheers Apache,
Chris

Yes Midpegs, the MBTX flavours do seem underpowered all round. Glad yours always started 'cos I've had many start failures - I've got a starter now, which helps.
Live and learn, etc.
Cheers,
Chris
Has your bike got a siren and HD security system? Is it also keyless ignition? All of these things are a drain on any battery.
I am led to believe my 2017 with above features will draw enough current just sitting in the garage to flatten the stock battery in about 5 weeks (take enough out of it so that the engine will not start) unless kept on a tender charger.
Yes Andy, it's a 2016 XL1200CA - I believe the security system is the culprit too (no siren!), and keyless ignition. Note that in the Summer there is no problem in the first year, only the second Winter. I did look at expensive batteries (Ł230+), but they generally only had a 2-year guarantee. I figure a fifty quid battery every year was cheaper - so long as I keep the solar panel connected.
