Default removing axle issue

I have a 2006 Sportster. I am attempting to remove the rear wheel so as to replace the rear tire. I am having difficulty removing the axle! I've gotten in broken loose, and it turns fairly freely, but it won't budge when I try and pull it out! Any ideas? I do not want to pound on the end and peen it over. Thank you.

Get a brass punch and hammer away. Sounds like it’s seized.

Have you slackened off the belt adjusters on both sides ?

When using a drift put the nut back on level with the end of the axle to start with.

When you eventually get to put it back together coat the whole axle with an anti seize grease.

Yes, I've loosened the belt adjusters on both sides. I've got it removed ~2 1/2" thus far. I have also sprayed it with a liquid wrench type chemical. Plan to get an extra set of hands to hold a heavy piece of steel against the swing arm to get more impact force. Never had this much work on any other axel removals. Interested to see what it looks like when I do get it out.

The first time I had to remove the axle on my King , it was a real pain , seized right on , had to pound the heck out of it . Once you get it off , take some fine emery cloth and clean it up really well , then add anti seize .

Good ideas, thanks. I've made more progress today. Taking a rest, and will get back on it later. (I'm an old man)

If you've driven it out a couple of inches ... try driving it back in a bit and then out again ... back and forth should help

Kroil or PB blaster soak it at the bearing on both side a few times overnight then try again. As mentioned if you can get it move spray it again and work it in & out, it'll free up.
