compatability
As far as I know, the only differences between the 2004-2006 883 and 1200 Sportsters are the cams and bore. Seems to me the stuff you're talking about should be fully interchangeable - assumming they're in the 2004-2006 "vintage". The years you're talking about would be helpful!
Are the cams different? I didn't think they were. I thought the only difference was the jugs, pistonsand heads.
Anyway, exhaust and air cleaner stuff should fit either 883 or 1200 Now, certain pipes and air cleaners might perform better on one or the other of the models, but they should fit fine.

Here is part of a HD article of changes to the 2004+ Sportsters;
"The XL Evolution 1200 engine has high-flow cylinder heads with an oil drain-back feature. The XL Evolution 1200 engine is also fitted with high-performance cams for enhanced torque output. Compression ratio is 9.7:1."
In the 2004+ sportsters, the cams HD used were the old (pre) 2004 Buell cams. As ear as being compatable 883 to 1200, pre 2004, yes. After 2004, should be as well, you just can't mate some things together from pre 2004 with 2004+ models. Hope this helps.
