Have you considered used. Typically people buy a new sportster and throw thousands at it in upgrades. Ride it a few times and decide riding isn’t for them or the complete opposite and ‘need’ a bigger bike and move to a Dyna or Softail. When I was shopping for my sportster I saw a few VERY low mile 48s for $6000~7000.

Used bike prices are crazy right now. Seems like the low supply is affecting used sales. The cheapest 48 I saw 300 miles from me is $9k, and is 6 years old with 15k miles… the rest are mostly low mileage under 4k miles and with 4 years old but all asking $11k+
If you buy a "Forty-Eight" you'll soon get to know the staff at your local gas station very well, that 2.4 gallon tank only gives around 90 miles from full to empty, so you'll be calling for gas very often.

It’s 2.1 gallons, more like 80 miles from full to empty, and stopping every 40 miles for gas is one of the charms of owning a 48.

Oops sorry about my over estimation, you aren't far out there Dr Buzzmeister, the "Forty-Eight" tank hold 7.9 litres or 2.08694 US gallons or 1.73776 UK gallons. Not everything is bigger in the jolly old US of A.
Yep I’ve ridden it. It’s a beautiful bike. The peanut tank doesn’t bother me, it’s all style. I have a 5gal portable gas tank. Mostly using it for commuting, and with the portable tank I can just refill at home.
so back to topic on hand… anyone see these at their dealers? I’ll talk with my dealer next weekend, interested in getting a read on availability and the order/wait process that others are seeing
