Hey I have a 1987 Harley sportster 883 and when I bought it, it came with an s&s super e. Got it starting but it’s running fast and the when I pull the throttle it dies. It’s getting too much air. Then I took the main jet out and saw that it’s size was a 68 but my manual tells me that it needs to be 155 could that be the issue
The manual does not have the S&S Carb in there, it is refering to stock carb and jets, not S&S. 68 would be about right for yours. The carb most likely needs a rebuild, doesn't sound like accelerator pump is functioning properly. FYI, the S&S has 2 jets, a main and an intermeadiate jet, the 68 is your main jet.

Did you replace the intake manifold seals? That's the only other place you can get a vacuum leak. The two seals at the heads may be original. If so, they are cooked extra well done by now.
Your manual is telling you what the stock carburetor uses, not the aftermarket S&S carburetor your bike has. Check those manifold seals!
