I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. He picked up a late 90.s Sportster that he's going to restore.
The plastic covers on the speedo and tach have become very very foggy through time and are hard to see through. Any idea what he can do to fix this? Can the covers be replaced, or polished somehow? Or do the gauges themselves need replacing?
Toothpaste is a great polish compound. Get a tube and use that with water. It's much less expensive than the headlight restoration kits and it works every bit as well.
Very possible, it's on the underside.
Spray WD40 on a cotton cloth and wipe it. If that helps, it's temporary of course and on top side but a good polishing with it occasionally will make it liveable.
