has anyone taken a EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS COMPONENTS off a 2018 model sporster I have a 1200C and that thing is always getting hit and its in the way for my jack plus I was told if it gets cracked it can cause a valcuem leak. when I tried looking it up every one is putting a cap on something but the 2 I found doesn't show what they are caping off to know where the exit hose is going to. I live in Louisiana so we don't need to have it in my state so I'd like to get it out my way but don't want to do it the wrong way.
One hose goes to aircleaner (for fresh air to purge canister), one hose comes from fuel tank through the vapor valve to the canister (vapors held in canister when engine off), and one hose goes to the intake manifold, where the vapors are sucked from the canister and canister is purged by fresh air hose (engine running). You should definitely cap the connection to the manifold, and the air cleaner. I would leave the vent hose to the tank open, or put a dirt bike style vent on it with a stub of hose. That should do it. You can shitcan the canister and the one way valve from the tank. Or, you can just leave the tank connected to the one way valve and pull everything downstream of it, that valve does not hurt anything just opens when positive pressure in the tank from vapor buildup on hot days. Your gas cap allows air in, and the one way valve purges excess vapor pressure into the canister if it builds up.
As for your 2018, it may trigger a CEL, but the basic function of the EEC is stated above. They may have figured out how to put a sensor in there to throw a code if removed. My bike is too old to have that stuff, and my EEC was gone since day one 33 years ago.

Purge solenoid is not installed on non-evaporative canister
vehicles and DTCs P0444 and P0445 are not available. If
these DTCs appear, the ECM should be reprogrammed.
P0444 Purge Solenoid Open/Low
P0445 Purge Solenoid High
If you can find the right kind of guy with a fancy scan tool programmer it looks like you can disable it properly. Not sure why the manual would call for the ECM and not the BCM to be reprogrammed though?

thank you very much for the info I'm glad I asked before just cutting the hose because of y'all I found a senser replacement kit to keep it from throwing a code I appreacate the info very much. I know most basic engine info but never had to deal with that stuff.
