Support tech called an engineer there because they wanted it straight from someone who knew exactly. Unfortunately the universal model won't work on my Sportster because of it's CAN bus system.

Then this is mis advertising IMO. It's not even close to universal if it only works on can systems. Or is it just sportsters?

Koso only advertises the universal gauge as fitting Japanese motorcycles but it looked like I could wire it to my Sportster so I asked if it was possible.
Their Sportster model is plug &play and uses the stock remote turn indicators.
I played around with the tire circumference setting to correct the speedo reading for my proposed new gearing. Going from 100% to 128% corrected it perfectly on paper, but I will use GPS to know for sure once I have it installed.
I'm having a bit of of a hard time deciding on the black or the silver bezel. Kinda leaning toward the silver because I'll use the white background lighting to maximize contrast. And to me that looks best
I need to find out what circumference figure Koso is using for 100%. I was using a 25.5" diameter for my calculation. Mostly just curious, but I do like precision in what I do also.
Michelin lists the rear Scorcher 150/80-16 as having a 25.43" static OD and a 26.06" running OD.

Probably measuring actual circumference with weight on and proper tire inflation is a truer measure.
Just remember these speedos have a built-in level of error, unless they are lab certified for accuracy.
Thanks for the help gents, got the tach installed.
The gear indicator works, shift light is cool, so far so good.
Couple of loose ends, not sure on the Speedo table, Im at 100% too and it seems close. Looks like my 07 will need a resistor kit (PN 72545-08) for the fuel warning lamp.
Looks good!.. Apparently the software was written by a engineering firm in Taiwan so they will be contacting them to get me that 100% number used for the stock circumference.
You do your own math to figure the difference in circumference between your old tire and your new tire to get your new % number.
I'm using the 61200008A fuel level sensor kit which doesn't need a resistor. Anybody doing the same, I suggest watching a video first
Little calculator to help you find a missing value. Like if you want to know your theoretical rear tire diameter just fill in everything else then calculate
