2014 Iron ignition issue
Hi guys,
I’ve recently had an issue when switching the ignition on. Literally nothing happens, the fob is present to disengage the alarm but nothing.
I’ve changed the battery in the fob, i’ve changed the battery in the bike. Nothing doing.
After taking apart the casing of the ignition iv’ve notice that the part of the circuit board that the ignition switch goes to has some small black marks on it.
So I gave my local harley garage a call and they said it can be common in the 2014 models.
My question is, do I bite the expensive bullet of buying a new unit for it to potentially happen again or can I fit a key ignition where the steering lock is or elsewhere?
Thanks in advance for any advice. In light of this issue i’ve used it as an excuse to strip the bike and give it a full makeover. So any more bits and bobs that you’d recommend I add whilst she’s stripped are more than welcome!

Literally nothing at all. If you zoom in on the picture of the circuit board you’ll notice some black spots where the ignition on switch is.
I’m assuming the previous owner opted for the HD security keyless start. Hence no key

The engine stop switch as it is called is not part of the CAN bus system but I don't know if it switches a voltage or some resistance to ground, the wiring diagram doesn't show that.
If you could fit an ignition key you would still need the engine stop switch to work. There is provision for a key but that just goes to a different input on the BCM.
The UK bikes all come keyless from 2014.
I am assuming what you are holding is the electronics from the right hand controls?
I would give it all and the switches a clean with electronic contact cleaner and see if that fixes it.
