No, you have engine oil (~3 quarts), and primary chaincase-transmission oil (1 quart).. One quart lubricates the transmission, clutch plates, primary drive chain and sprockets.

Your 2003 motor is no different than my 1991, or a 2022 model.

Agreed, we're saying the same thing. I phrased it bad, I I meant to say is:

Checked the transmission oil too and it's fine. It looked clearer than the engine's.

Yep, that's why use of proper terminology is so important in helping to diagnose issues. It's probably the #1 issue that causes communications confusion.

Yes, you are right, John, it's the big twins that have three oil holes and Sportster's have two.
