2002 883R

I just bought my first bike and the guyI bought it from (2nd owner) said the first owner, "bored it out or something like that." I took that as the 1200 kit was installed but I don't believe him. Maybe he was just trying to sweetin' up the deal. Anyways, is there a simple way to find out if the 1200 kit is installed. Again, its my first bike so I can't exactly take the thing for a ride and tell the difference between the two. Any help would be appreciated!

There is no simple way to tell other than pull the head and measure the piston. However, if it will go much past 100 mph, it's likely had some work done on it.

Might try and look at the heads to see what's on them, S&S, Screamig eagle Ect. congrats on your new scoot. post some pictures when you can.

My 2003 883r goes past 100 mph with no problem. It has had the stage 1 upgrades,but no interior engine work done.So 100mph doesn't really tell you much about a 1200 kit being added
