2008 1200 Custom. The bottom metal mount has a piece of plastic covering it, that makes it quite difficult to remove the cover. I don't want to bend the cover trying to get it off. Is there some special technique that will make it easier to remove? Thank you!
Come to find somebody was in there previously, forced the cover over the bottom plastic piece, bending the cover. Finally got it off, bent it back to its proper shape, and reinstalled it. It does fit rather nicely, after all the hassle. The bottom plastic part is a perch, for the cover to rest on. The metal cover is actually sprung slightly into position when the top is slid onto the two top mounts. Oh, I installed a new battery and a longer negative cable also. (ugh!) So, it'll be another handful of gampas little helpers before bed.

If you find the cover comes off easily or feels a "little loose" attaching, you could always ZIP tie it to the frame using one of the slots on top of the cover.
Good idea Rob Roy's Revenge. I don't normally go into the battery compartment except to change the battery or clean every-now-and-then, so a ZIP tie does me good.
