I don't have either of these pipes but I have researched them extensively. From what I know, performance will be about the same with both of them especially if you plan on rejetting the carb and adding an SE AC. I believe the V&H are a little less restrictive with a more straight through baffle so you're probably going to notice that they are a little louder. Not sure if I'd say they have more rumble but I do know they are louder. By the way, I have read several times that V&H makes the Screamn' Eagle pipes and mufflers for Harley. Hope this helps you out a little. Have you checked out the V&H Straightshot HS pipes? They are sweet looking. Good luck in your decision.
'Did the SE AC and the re-jet with the V & H slip-ons. The sound is exactly what I wanted -- good idle, loud in the throttle, not bad in cruise. For $210 vs. $450 for the SS HS, you won't be disappointed.
WVICEMAN,
Actually, I do have pics but I'm out of town until mid-week. You can go on vanceandhines.com to get a look at them as well as a soundclip. I bought mine from directparts.com as well as the jet kit but later saw them for about $10 cheaper on morepoweracing.com.
$210 is a great price! I paid $250 for the ones I just bought this Friday all because I didn't want to wait for them to arrive in the mail. Turns out I have to wait anyway since I couldn't get an immediate appointment to have the carb re-jetted. Just don't want to mess with the carb myself. I've screwed a few carbs up in my day...lol.
