I can understand. I have stainless pipes that I had polished. They looked awesome for about 3 rides. Stainless is a funny term because, sure they don't rust, but they sure do stain.

Yep. Sucks to pay for Chrome just to watch it fade...but is what it is. Thanks for the info.

If you leaned it out with a smaller jet its probably going to run hotter. Just sayin.

I thought that too but I keep reading all kinds of different information about this. Some say it will turn gold if too rich and it's unburnt fuel in the pipes. Others say too lean will do it. Other articles say blue is lean gold is normal aka good. Too confusing. Bike seems to run good. I'm just gonna see what happens. 45 and 180 seems to be what most run with open pipes and air. Others have better luck with 48 and 185.

Regardless, a 45 pilot should be the correct jetting. Running rich likely wont keep the pipes from turning color but could cause other issues like slugish performance and carbon buildup on the pistons. I just went through this on my current setup. I was running rich to keep from pinging due to high compression. The result was the bike still pinged and when I pulled the heads there was a lot of carbon already on the pisron tops after only 1k miles.
