I picked this one up at an Animal Save thrift shop. Took a zip tie to assist in mounting. We moved to an unfamiliar area. It's been a real help to run Maps finding m way around. Well worth the $3.00!
Quite happy with my Quadlock. Phone is extremely secure, is vibration isolated, charges when clipped on, and I can easily glance at the GPS without moving my head since its next to my rearview mirror.
Yeah, the "metal plate" type mounts suck. You put a small metal plate in your phone case and rely on the magnet. They don't even work in a vehicle when the road gets rough. I used one for a year or so.
These were replaced by MAG SAFE phone mounts, which you could actually integrate into his little mount, and it would actually hold way better. I have Mag Safe in all my vehicles, now. No metal plate, just that ring. I would trust this on a bike before the metal/magnet thing
There, OP, I just gave you the solution, go make a mint!

i posted link showing how much magnetic power this thing has I guess you didnt see that one. I build this from scratch on my own if you put this magnet on any metal surface you wont be able to pull it out with your hand is how much holding power this thing has. It is in post #14 in here
I think I'll stick with my Quad Lock. It's secure and isolates the vibration. The case I have also has a mag ring on the back so I can stick it on the side of my toolbox at work.
