If it’s gonna wobble this is where I had luck finding it. I’d always snug up the neck a pinch until it was gone. This experience comes from multiple front ends I’ve used. Again, just a process I’ve used that worked for me. It’s definitely not written in stone, but thought I’d share. Nobody likes wobbles. Keep the rubber side down.
I played around a bit last weekend and I can take my hands off the handlebars at any speed and I don't get a wobble at all. It's straight as an arrow. I stopped my experimenting around 80mph so above that I don't know. I guess it is just a symptom of going too fast on bad roads.

@OCSpringer Just wondering, have you installed
a fork brace?

Just a FWIW, I use a Super Brace, but it seems like
they are about out of business these days...
This is the best picture I have of it....

thanks,

T.

My XR1200 is my 21st motorcycle, I can honestly say that I've never had a speed wobble on any of my machines, where am I going wrong?

No. Haven't done anything like that. Only change to the front is progressive springs. I've considered it though.

You're going wrong with the snarky replies.

Thanks for the helpful reply. I've looked into this more and given the fact this only happens at high speed a proper brace may do the trick. Too bad SuperBrace is no longer as they seem like the way to go. The HD version seems more cosmetic than functional seeing as it connects to the seal covers. Big Al's seems like the best option for the Sportster now.

I installed a fork brace on my old Iron 883, when a single disc brake is applied, it can cause the forks to twist to the caliper side, a brace prevents that from happening.

Here in the UK we call it a dry sense of humour, American's possibly don't understand British humour.

Fair enough. I am a Monty Python fan and am familiar with the airspeed velocities of unladen swallows, both African and European.
