I did get it wrong though. The gasket is pushed into the end of the muffler.

It has the great advantage that the muffler will not rust weld itself to the header making removal of the muffler very easy.

Yes the torca clamps stretch. Just follow the manual. In the scheme of things how many times are the mufflers removed?

Well one thing I CAN SEE is the clamps, and there's no way the two ends are butting up against each other. There's plenty of room left for them to squeeeeze.

TORCA! I place you in charge of Khrome Werks. They're yours to squeeze, as I promised. I want you to squeeze and squeeze and squeeze! Give me tightness! Drive it home. Drive them into utter submission! Do not show the slightest pity or mercy! Never stop. Go. Go! Show no mercy!

Well I spent the money on the factory service manual and it didn't explain why to replace them. I replaced the stock mufflers with Khrome Werks slipons, and blindly followed the instuctions in the service manual because the guy that wrote the instructions wasn't around to ask.

I'm not a trained tech. Perhaps there is something that I can't detect that's keeping the old clamps from working properly. This is the 2nd time they've been removed/replaced. I can't figure it, why they wouldn't B reusable, common-sense wise. Either way, the muffy's are on good enough now. I've had the bike out several times and it's always a JOY to ride. We're not talking about calipers, rotors or engine tolerances here. I'm happy with everything right now and i'm just gonna leave her 🐝.
