Default Mini-Glide?

I have been thinking about scraping up some cash, and using it to trade in My Sporty for a Triumph Rocket III. The local dealer has a brand new 2006 R3 Classic sitting in the showroom, and it's the last Rocket left. Because it's a 2006, they're willing to get rid of it for a song. The thing is, I can't scrape up the cash to make the trade-in until the middle of October. If it gets sold, I guess it wasn't meant to be. I can't afford a trade-in on any other new bike because I'm too upside down on the Sportster. The only reason I could do this deal is because they're willing to strip the price down a lot because it's two model years old, so they want to get it off the lot, and I can come up with a decent chunk of cash. The rocket looks exactly like the one shown here.

What will I do if I can't pick up that Rocket next month? Well, obviously, I'll just keep the Sportster. While I'd obviously like a bigger bike, what can't be done, can't be done.

But, on the other hand, what can be done...will be. I mean, at the end of the day, if this was 1973, a 1200cc bike would be about the biggest Harley I could even buy, right? The 1200 only seems small in relation to today's massive cruisers.

So, if I keep the Sportster, then, instead of spending that free cash on a new bike, I'm gonna spend it on the Sporty. I'm gonna ride over to the Harley dealer and order these, these, and this. Yes, I'm talking about the color matched hard bags, bag liners, and tour pak. Heck, I might even get the Fleetliner fairing from Corbin for the thing, too.

I will then call my bike The Mini-Glide.

Wait...what's that horrible noise? It sounds like it's coming from far away...

Ah. It's just DallasTX screaming in anguish.

Yeah, that the thing about the Triumphs. You either love 'em or hate 'em. No middle ground. I like the way it looks, mostly, because I like the art deco styling. It looks like a science fiction bike from the 1930s.

Plenty of power though. About 85 more horses than a Road King, and 40 pounds lighter.

Never thought I'd ever hear the words "art deco" come outta any harley guy's mouth (or fingers on the keyboard).
All BS aside I can see where HD got the dual headlight idea for the fatbob. Still ugly IMO.
Hey, do what ya gotta do Dale! You're the one who has to ride it so you may as well like what you ride!

The R3 is an amazing bike. I looked at buying one myself and was impressed with the test ride, it has so much torque.

If you are looking for more information one of the better forums is www.triumphrat.net

Theres a video of the R3 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKEuzxC4eGc

Every review I've read on that bike says it has tons of power, but is hard to handle in city traffic, etc...

If you're looking for a big, powerful bike, that is pretty inexpensive, try the Yamaha Roadliner. My friend just bought one and it is a very nice cruiser. It's not my style, but he got an 06 for 10K.
