I just picked up a new 07 883C last week, and it took about that long for me to decide that it's not loud enough with the stock pipes. I'm thinking heavily of getting the stage 1 AC put on when I go in to get my 1000 mile service done, so I was wondering if it's better to get whole new pipes or just get slip on's? What kind of difference would you see between the two?
The bottom line is look around at other bikes and at the exhaust galleries here and at XL Forum. Find what you like, then go find some bikes to listen to. Take you time and find the right pipe for you. If you want power at the cost of cool sound then go with 2-1 exhaust. I have had V&H straight shot slip ons in the past. They sounded great but I did not like the power curve I got. I switched to a Python 2-1. The power was amazing but I did not like the sound to much. Next week I am going back to a two piece exhaust with probably some SEII's to see what they do for me.
Moral of the story...look, listen then buy or it will start to get expensive [sm=biker.gif]
