@$$ yesterday! I was coming up on an intersection, doing the speed limit of course and a car was coming in from the road to the right fast. He wasn't paying any attention and never even checked traffic my way, so I slowed down, pulled in the clutch and gave the throttle a twist. I think I gave the poor guy a heart attack. He slammed his brakes so hard his chest hit the steering wheel. Thank God for loud pipes!
I still believe that the majority of people driving cars and trucks are not only blind, but deaf as well.
Look at the number of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks that are hit when running red lights and sirens.
Usually the peoplethat hit themhave the same reply; "I didn't see or hear them"... [8D]
My WideGlide is running open drag pipes, no mufflers or baffles, and it is very loud. Many of the crowd I run with also have open pipes on their bikes.
A couple dozen loud bikes riding in a group puts out some real 'tone', but we have near misses all too frequently. If anything the noise seems to attract idiot drivers in their cars and trucks.
I rarely use my horn, instead I use the sound of my pipes. It seems to get their attention and is quicker than my thumb searching for that damn horn button and accidently hitting the turn signal. They don't seem too impressed when I flash a mean old left turn signal at them when they are about to cut me off.
