I just bought a new pair of vance and hines slipon, can I put them on without doing anything else to my bike? They are going on a 08 1200L, I have heard that I needed a fuel-pack, then someone told me that I didn't, if I do are they hard to put on. Any feed back would be great. Thanks
Technically if you put on Screamin' Eagle mufflers by themselves you don't have to do anything else to your bike. Vance & Hines may be the same way, I don't know. What I do know is that if you put the pipes onand a high-flow air cleaner you do need to get the Fuelpak.
Quite honestly, I think as long as you don't change the amount of air entering the engine you don't need a Fuelpak. Just because the air can exit better doesn't mean the engine needs a Fuelpak, but it may change the back pressure, which in turn can change performance.
Bottom line, I guess I personally would not install them without a Fuelpak, BUT Fuelpak only has programs for bikes with high-flow air cleaners. So if you don't get the air cleaner, too, don't bother with the Fuelpak I guess.
I guess I'm going to try them by theirselfs first, all I know is more air in and more air out gives more hp, I'm just changing more air out, hopefully it want burn my valves thanks for the info, as soon as I can I will change my air cleaner and get a fuelpak
