Default Vibration issues

Another newbie question.. I know the pre 2004 sportsters are supposed to have more vibration because of the rubber mount they added. Honestly, my 2002 rides great with the only vibration felt in the forward control foot pegs. However, it vibrates like h$%^ and irritates the s%& outta me just in that one spot on the foot pegs. Is this normal? I wear great riding boots and all but it's still a chore just to ride around town.. Any buffer device out there to fix this?

Thanks,
C

Get some aftermarket pegs, Kuryakin makes some that dampen vibrations. I have them and they work.

Try small rubber washers such as gas line or vac hose to where the pegs mount, or try a peg that weighs a bit more.

I have a 2003 1200 and it vibrates so bad that its rediculous. I have done everything that I can think of to try to calm it down some. After market grips, rubber snake in the bars ect...... Still this thing is just uncomfortable to ride. I hope to trade up to a 04+ one day in the future. Its my only real gripe about this bike. It has been reliable with no leaks or any other issues. I have ridden it a tad over 400 miles in a day and when I climbed off I was shot. I felt like I climbed off a 1965 model bike. Its a shame it took Harley so long to make the rubber mounted bikes.

I called a local dealer a few days ago about test riding a new sporty and they told me that they didnt allow test rides. WTF? I can go drive a 40K + truck from Ford or Chevy with no issues. What makes HD think that a 10k bike is made out of gold? That and to think that the local Victory dealer is begging me to ride a Vegas. What gives? Now I remember why I hate HD stealers. Maybe they wont sell me my next bike after all. These bikes are made to ride and not look at. I just hate the HD dealer experience.

It's not just Harley dealers. I worked for a metric dealer that sold Hondas, Kawasakis, Yamahas and Suzukis and there was no test riding allowed. What they would do is refund your money if you got on it, left and "Immediately" within a5-10 miles didn'tlike it. Our Harley dealer here in Tucson will do the same thing even though they don't like to make it general knowledge.

No rides, WTF? My dealer sat me on whatever and I rode 4 bikes before buying the Sporty, one had two miles on it.

I can understand some dealers not giving rides. I would have to guess that some dealers in Metropolitan areas could have so many bikes out at one time that it would be difficult to keep track of what's going on. If you're that serious about it, buy it and if it's not what you think it should be you'll get your money back. (Nothing more than my thoughts.)

I have the Kuryakins pegstoo and they work well. I don't notice any foot peg vibration. I alsobought the Kuryakin iso grips and that helped a bunch as well. Money well spent on both, imo.
