Default Rear Suspension...??

I may look in to slamming my bike this winter. How low can I go with the rear end before I need to change the jiffy stand...or do I only need to change it if I lower the front end too...?? Also, what is the best aftermarket rear suspension out there...Progressive is the name that constantly comes up whenever I search for info. Are there any other brands that I should be considering...?? Pictures help too....thanks.

I believe 10" shocks or struts is as low as you can go. I, and others, have used the 10" Lick's Short Shocks. You can see pictures of them on LicksCycle.com. I believe there's also another company that has the 10" shocks, but can't remember the name. Do a search in the sportster section, and you should find numerous threads concerning lowering a sporty that lists all kinds of info.

Here's mine with the Lick's in the HDF Photo Gallery...https://www.hdforums.com/albumphoto....&apage=159

Let me understand you. You want to slam the bike but yet you wish the best suspension out there? My question to you is when slaming your bike, you loose travel. We make the best rear shocks for a Harley bar none. we are also a service center for Ohlins, also the top of the line. If you slam a shock you are defeting the purpose of a shock. You may wish to go with an air shock that is of top quality for your purpose. One of the few quality posters here have a set of these premium shocks for sale. His name is Bryan TTM
These are the best out there. you can do a search to contact him under the contact member or member search option on the front page. If you wish some free insite into suspension give me a call toll free.

I just noticed that actual question....I think 11" eye to eye on the shock is as low as you can go without needing tochange to the hugger/smaller stand. Under 11" and you'll want to change it.After a couple months of continually worrying ifmy scoot was going to fall over cause I put the 10"ers on, I switched to the hugger stand.

Oh, and consider all brands of shocks and buy whatthe shocks that will match your style of riding, needs, price, etc....Just ride.

My wifes bike (2003 883 Custom)has 10 3/4 shocks and a 1" lowering kit and it worked but you had to be careful where and how you parked it. I just put a Hugger stand on it and now she can park it anyplace she wants.

I have 11" Progressive Heavy Duty shocks on mine and a Lepera seat, I don't think I would want to be any lower.

Thanks! Your bike looks awesome, BTW. I love the sleek look it has. Any negatives about removing the guard from the belt? Looks like a passengers pant leg would be awefully close to it.
