What type of helmets do you ride with in the winter? in the summer?
I usually ride with a half helmet, but it was about 40 degrees out last night on my ride so I wore a 3/4 helmet. I hated every second of that helmet. The air would creep under the helmet and FREEZE my face. I am going to start looking for a full helmet (something I never thought I would use with a Harley) and am curious what everyone else uses. Any suggestions on full helmets?
I have a Fulmermodular helmet. I love it. I am glad to have it in the winter time. Last year I was riding when it was 10 degrees out, and it kept my head and face warm and comfortable. It is a great helmet. I prefer the modular helmet over the regular full face helmets.
half helmet, with a beanie underneath to cover my ears, then a pair of overglasses googles (i wear this all the time, no matter conditions) then if its cold a half face mask that covers everything under the goggles and breathes well, but keeps me warm. its nice. probably looks a little strange though.
if put on right there are no open spots and my whole head stays warm.
Yup I wear a fullface year round...They arent as hot as people make them out to be..ESPECIALLY if you are moving....
if the vents arent enough..find a fullface that has a ratchet type locking system for the visor..and ride with it just barely cracked.....beware sand and grit will get in that way...!!!
Just rode to lunch in mid 40's weather with my 3/4. I have a ride planned for tomorrow morning and the temp is going to be in the low 40's. Think I'll switch to the modular so I can pull the face shield down when my nose goes numb...
