HELP!!! I ordered all my parts when I bougt the Nightster. The V&H Black shortshots are on back order. I went by the stealer today to check on everything. I'm almost thru my break-in period. They are't expecting the pipes in for a couple more weeks. So . . . I'm still researching A/C. I know I want a K&N round filter. I know I want the round A/C cover that I'll probably have to powdercoat. I get soooooo confused about what will fit and what will not. I kind of like the round Jack Daniels covers. I just don't know what size to order. I like the retro look. Can someone steer me in the right direction.
Are you asking which round air cleaner will fit your bike? Or have you decided which A/C and are confused about which size cover will fit the A/C you have decided on?
Both I guess. There are thousands to choose from. What size cover should I get? I gather I can buy a round K&N filter for an SE A/C. Now I just have to choose a cover for it. Everytime I think I have found one someone says make shure it is thr larg diameter one designed for the 07/08 EFI Sporties. Well, guess what. Thay don't say anthing about that on any of the web site. Almost all aircleaners for 2004 and up Sportsters will fit the 07-08 EFI bikes. You just don't use the carb support bracket cause you don't need it obviously. The Arlen Ness Big Sucker is a popular choice for a relatively inexpensive round A/C. Ness makes them in a 5.5" "stage 1" model and a 7" "stage 2" model. Luckydog makes some cool but plain wrinkle or gloss black covers for both sizes. I have their wrinkle cover on my NRHS A/C. Here's a link to them Luckydog A/C Covers
IMO the best solution is to get an A/C that uses an external crankcase breather system like the Crossroads Performance or the Dougherty. If you go with the Crossroads you won't need to worry about a cover. Here's a pic of the Crossroads
