Chrome should be an accent, not an end-all, be-all.

But that's just my opinion.

If you like chrome, go for it. You've got your whole life left to get edjimicated!

Personally-I like more color as opposed to more chrome. Most bikes are chromed silly!

I would suggest doing the Ham can and horn cover to match the oil tank (and I presume battery covers--that black and yellow paint looks cool. Color the belt guard too! Combine that with a chrome pulley cover for emphasis.

But, you need to do what you like.

I will admit.....

Black with a 'tasty splash' of chrome is hard to beat.

I'd say getting the seat chrome might be a little much

Please allow me to correct your grammar. The words "chrome" and "overkill" are never used in the same sentence.

All depends on your personality. If you want to be way shiny then do it.
I believe that you want to draw the eye to certain highlights on the bike, if you're looking for artsy crap, and too much chrome draws away for things like the flamed side cover. I personally think a little more black would set off/contrast the yellow and flamed work. It's all your decision, and who cares what anyone else thinks.

It's too much chrome when you've maxxed out your Visa.

I like the look that takes the chrome back from the engine to the shocks, including side covers, pulley cover, etc. Kind of sets off that entire area. When you settle on a paint job, the tank and fenders are a must, and you can add the side covers to match. This is all a personal choice, so whatever floats your boat.

I like the look of the color matched side covers on the Sportsters.

To me it allows the finish color to 'flow' all the way from the tank to the rear fender, and the majority of the chrome is kept to the front end, engine/tranny, and pipes...

But that's just my opinion, and opinions vary.
