I can't hardly go in to the MoCo and look at accessories and get parts for my 883, and not totally drool over the new Wide Glide. It looks like I might be just have to tap into my retirement fund and buy the W/G. Think that I'm nuts, or what?!!
Oh jeez. What pipes are on that? Do away with the crossover too? I've never been this close to just pulling the trigger. I cannot believe that I'm spending my old age $$$. Play now, pay later???!!!

The pipes I have on my WideGlide are the true double walled Hooker Stepped Tuned headers.
They are a 'true' double wall pipe, as well as having the inner piper ceramic coated, so you don't have to worry about heat shields that are used on most aftermarket pipes. With the ceramic coating and double wall construction they won't yellow or turn blue.
They are also 'stepped tuned' (the inner pipe varies in diameter) to give the best performance.
You can also get different metal baffles (inner mufflers) to vary the amount of tone you want. I'm running mine without any baffles. You can't get a true appreciation of the tonal output as the little video was made with an old Sony digital camera with a small built-in mic.

I am sure you'll get the standard advise of "you only live once", " buy what you want, it's your money" etc if this post stays alive for awhile -- but I can't do it man. I do say -- but the Wide Glide if you want it. BUT......
Your retirement fund is for retirement, not to buy a second bike. It is not financially wise. Why have a retirement fund if you're just going to dip in it every time you want another recreational vehicle?
Save some cash and put it down and trade in your 883 for the WG. Don't touch your retirement money until you're retired!!!!
bummer aint it I haven't been since I bought a t-shirt as I fell in love with the 2008 anniversary model fat boy at 21K trying to keep my *** out of there
Oh God, where were you just a few minutes after my last post?!!! My retirement fund is still "somewhat there", but the wife has the "real" retirement funds in our house. I just had to do it. Yes, I bought an Anniversary Softail Custom yesterday! I know, without a pic, this post sucks! I'm having the dealership store it for a while, so I can figure out how/where to get it in the garage. I'm kept the '99 883 also. Now, like so many before me, I have to learn how to post pics. I'll get them when I get her home.

Congrats on the new bike! Yeah, make sure to keep the Sporty least you miss it.
Retire?....Nope, we are all going to work till we die.....And that's just fine with me cause my day job grants me plenty of cash to spend any way I want. My Navy retirement pays for house and all fixed expenses.
