Default Tail light question...

I have an 05 XL 1200C and my tail lights doesn't work. My brake and turn signals do work, so my first assumption is that there's a separate wire that runs the marker lights vs. the tail lights? The light over the license plate still works too, so am I correct to assume that I just have a faulty wire someplace? If so, how difficult is it to find?

Isn't the marker/brake light a double fillament bulb? If so, its possible your bulb is 1/2 burnt out. Easier to check than pulling wiring.

If your plate light is working, check the tail light bulb/socket as they should both be on the same circuit (running lights)

Do you mean your two round side lights are not working? If so, it might be a loose wire. If you could, be a little more specific so that we can help you. Let us know.

There was a recall on some of the tail lights not long ago for a bad bulb I think.

To the best of my knowledge Sportsters do not have "running lights", turn and brake only. Kit (module and red lens) is about $45.00 International models have running lights I believe.

I have a 2005 XL1200R that I bought in June, 2005. The right-rear bulb went dead after 1,600 miles. I didn't know there was a "recall" for a bulb, so for $2.00 I solved the problem and now I carry a spare with me.
