Has anyone replaced the stock pullback riser on their 04-06 1200C? I have a set of DWG miniapes I'm putting on. I'm not crazy about those bars on the stock riser. The main problem is what to do (cosmetically) about all the wiring hidden inside the stock riser.
I'm was at the dealer last weekend trying to find out what I can do, i'm getting a set of mini apes. The problem is the speedometer, it will hit the tank if you go any lower on the risers. I'm planning on keeping the risers just putting the mini's on them.
That's what I'm doing for now - using stock riser. I anticipated having to most move the speedo with a change. I was thinking about going with a top mounted tach and speedo combo.
I think there is a straight riser just like ours but I don't know a part number or price. The pullback only gives us 1.5". I will get it back with the new bars.
I have an 06 1200c, and I put the mini apes on it. I used the stock riser, but had to extend the wiring and used cables from a Wide Glide. It greatly improves the handling and feel of the bike. As well as looks. I've done a couple of long rides with them, and it is definately inproved comfort.

I was also thinking about doing this, but I spent 2 hours at the dealer checking things out, and I really think it's going to look ok, with my stock risers. I should have them by the end of the month. I waiting on the income tax check to come in, should be the 27. I hope to get a few more goodies. But I will post a picture when i'm done, so you can see it. I moved a sportster in front of a mirror, and seen what it looked like, and how I looked. It makes the front look so much better.
I've seen a couple pics of guys who have put apes on. They don't look bad. I have been strapping stuff to the front of the bars lately so riser isn't really visible. Thinking about a tool bag mounted there.
If anyone cares, here's the info on the stock part:
The Stock riser on the Custom is one of the things that attracted me to it. Couldn't get me to change it for love or money. And if they changed the nameimight consider Ape Hangars, or mini Apes, sorry but that just sounds gay to me................................................ .............................................J/K Not!
Here's a couple pics of my tool bag attached to handlebars/riser. I guess I'll leave things like this when I put my new stock Dyna Wide Glide (AKA gay[sm=icon_rofl.gif]) handlebars on.
but had to extend the wiring and used cables from a Wide Glide
If this is true, some one is gettin a beatin at the dealership - from my info, the banjo fittings are unique to the sportie after 04 (they are the same on BOTH ends) as oposed to one being smaller on all other models and earlier sporties.
I myself went with Longhorns and since ralow didn't mention then being a $3 bill then it makes me all the happier
my clutch cable and new 3 piece custom brake line will be in Tue. - will ask to see a WG brake line then.
