I see you have the same pipes.... you havnt dragged them on the ground either?
Reason I ask is theylook lower than the pegs and I drag my pegs daily...
As far as the rain sock you better have one with you if you get caught in the rain.

Nice looking bike, I think the black rain sock really helps the looks of the heavy breather on the Nightster. I'm not sure how tall you are, but the forward controls were the best investment I've made on the bike, I'm 5-10.
I like the rain sock but I like the look of the air filter showing better for some reason. Looks more raw and bare bones I guess for lack of a better word. I usually dont ride if theresa chance of rain but when its possible and absolutely has to be done, always got the sock with me...which reminds me of something similiar but probably not appropriate and rain sock to condom jokes are probably over done.

Don't be scared of the forwards, I was a big fan of the mids as well. But now you couldn't get me to go back. The forwards make the bike much more comfortable.
I think I saw on the Vance and Hines website (or somewhere) that their pipes are designed to give BETTER cornering clearance than stock. They sure don't look like it, but now that I think about it I haven't heard anybody complain about them scraping.
