Ahhh, my first ride....The year-2000...Washington, PA in late March/early April. Temp in thehigh 30*'s to low 40*'s.Mix of clouds and sun with a chance of rain. About 40 miles from my house. Wasn't thinkingwhen I left the house to go get it,and just threw on along sleeve shirt and a pull over. At the shop, Ibought a full face, (that would fit both myself and the wifey),and a novelty helmet for me. Only embarassing part was the wifey throwing me the full face, and saying---If you make ithome, I'll give you the beanie helmet to ride around in later. Since I happened to have taken a peak outside & Yep-It started to sprinkle/rain, so I complied with the full face & let her think she had won a battle. Smiledwhile shivering the whole way home.

The day I got my bike it was a nice warm day in February this year...But by the time I had all the paperwork done it was dark and snowing and it was windy...It didn't stop me from riding home but I couldn't feel my fingers when I got home but it was worth it to finally see a motorcycle in my garage...You can never trust the weather in Colorado!!

I had mine delivered, as I had to work the day I was to pick it up. Add to that that fact that I had never Ridden except as a passenger prior to April of 07... So, I rushed home, dawned my fullface helmet, my leather jacket and my boots (I got the boots before I got the financing... I was that confident) and got on the bike on my dead end street. The Weather was warm, late April, and I spent about 2 hours walking it around and riding it down to the end of the culdesac at about 10 mph. Not a ride home... but my first ride.

The day I got my bike (almost 5 years ago) it was POURING!I could barely see out the windshield of the cage. I left the bike on the showroom floor till the next day and went back to ride it home in 40 degree and drizzling weather.
The next day I rode it to my uncles house to show him. On the way home the tornado sirens were sounding behind me and the sky was black. Needless to say I got home just fine but began to wonder if getting the bike was bad luck...
As you can see it all worked out because I still own it and am still riding.

This pic was taken the first week I owned it.

I have changed a few things since then

I had a friend ride it home for me. There was no way I was going to ride home in 30miles of bumper to bumper traffic at 4:00 on a Friday.

First ride was90 miles to bring my sportster home via the back roads (after riding toto work). Was last August, great weather. I stopped by an empty High School parking lot to practice some slow cornering & manuvering (my 30 min MSF course). It was a blast.

Mine was rachet strapped in the back of my pickup. I didn't have it registered yet. So there was no plates. It was a beautiful day too December about 55degrees. About 5 miles from where I bought it from. A guy on a custom painted bagger stops and asks me why it is in the truck instead of under my butt. I explain he says nice bike good luck. I got out and rode it a couple days later after getting the tags for it. Took it for a 20 mile ride(my first ride on a street bike ever). I have put 800 miles on it since that day December 29, 2007.
