I like the control I get with the extra width on the Nightster handlebars, butI feel a bit "stretched" on them. (I'm 5'5".) It occurred to me thatgetting the bars in a bit closer might help. The height is fine as-is, but I could go a bit higher if I need to do that to get the bars closer.
Do you think these would help? I don't want to get into anything complicated re installation. I just want to be able to bolt them on. Any opinions and/or advice would be appreciated.
Those actually look like they may work. I placed the drag specialties risers on mine and they hit the tank at full turn. I ended up going with a 3" straight riser. Works pretty good.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but those don't look like they'll accomodate the speedo w/o a kit. Drag Spec does have risers specifically for the Sporty/FXD that will bolt right up to the stock gauge, but don't know if they come in black.
I just put straight risers on mine. They are only about 1-1/2" more than the stock risers, but with that little extra height, I can tilt the bars a little closer to me, and I think they are going to be fine now. (I am only 5' 4"). (I haven't tried them out on a ride yet - hubby just installed them Sunday, and between crappy New England weather and working 58 hours a week until mid-April, have only been able to sit on the bike in the garage!) .
But one thing I wanted to address was the speedo issue.Unless you want to re-wire, that is about the maximum height you can go and not have to do anything with the speedo. We almost thought we weren't going to get it back on.
I had put some buckhorns on near the end of last season and liked them - but I always felt the stock bars look the best of anything (even better than the popular "apes" people are going with), and I too like the width of the stock bars for handling.
Why couldn't you just use those risers in that ebay ad then throw away the top clamps and use the stock clamp/speedo-holder? It may or may not work with those risers but if you looked hard enough I'm sure there are risers that will work with that idea.
And like road head said 3" straight risers will def. work I put a set up to mine but I am fine stock, more money to save for a new bike

That seemed like the way to do it to me too. I thought the existing speedo holder would bolt right onto the risers with no problems. Am I missing something?
I'm also a bit concerned about the cables after reading Perch's comments. I don't want to get into a major project with this if I can possibly avoid it.

I just looked at the pic in the link you supplied and was wondering what those top pieces were - so I think Bradley Jones had it right when he said to "throw away the top clamps and use the stock clamp/speedo-holder". You wouldn't/couldn't use the top pieces that come on the pictured risers with the stock speedo setup of the Nightster, as far as I can figure.

I haven't swapped out my wife's yet, but the risers on Nightsters and FXDs have an offset bolt pattern. The tank side pair is narrower than the wheel side pair. Don't see how you could use a set of risers that had "straight up" bolt pattern w/o a gauge mount adapter.
