Default forward conrol conversion questions

found a set of new forward take offs from an 06 1200c...the stock harley ones....theywhere a decent price and i want to put them on the 1200r....looks like i need to remove the exhaust to reach the allen bolts on the brake pedal/left peg mount.......question is ...is there a gasket in the exhaust where it meets the head?or is it simply bolted up there and theres no gasket. dont want to take anything apart untill i know i have everything i could need to reassemble.i figure it would be wise to replace any gaskets before assembly....any help would be great.

The 06 HD service manual says to replace muffler interconnect gasket and exhaust port gasket and torca muffler clamp. I would get the service manual then go from there. You might be able to loosen exhaust pipe flange nuts and remove flanged bolts that hold muffler to muffler interconnect bracket to lift muffler up a little toget to the rear brake rod assembly. Id get the service manual you can't go wrong with it. Its well worth the money spent.

The gasket is pressed into the head....I take my pipes off all the time and it just stays in there...I wouldn't really worry too much about it, honestly.

And +1 on the SM....GET ONE.

Like 6o66er says, gaskets are pressed in. They are easy to change but no need most of the time. The are pretty resilient and can be reused several times, along with the clamp and nuts. Just be sure to get the pipe set in straight, tighten nuts to proper torque and no worries...
