Default Mirror issues

Yesterday I took my bike out for a nice little 35-40 mile ride and noticed that one of my mirrors doesn't stay put. The pivot on the mirror seems loose so the wind just blows it so it's pointed in so I'm essentially looking at myself in the mirror. Is there any type of adjustment or fix for this or am I looking at having to replace the mirror?

I'm also noticing a bit of this with one of my mirrors--at the ball, and there seems to be no way to tighten it...

There's no adjustament. My first thought is I would get some clear silicone, get as much of it into the joint where the stem and the mirror come together. Set on the bike. Put the mirror where I want it and leave it alone till it sets up. Hopefully that will keep it in place. Be sure to adjust it where you want because you don't want to try and move it after the silicone sets up. Just a thought !!

I had thought of going the silicone route but was thinking there must be a better way than that. It really wouldn't bother me if it was my right hand mirror I don't use that much but I use the left hand one all the time.

LOL, very true.

Non-adjustable mirrors......[&:] Mine are adjustable. You can tighten the two screws at the ball pivot joint, as that's what they are there for. You can also adjust it at the stem base on the handlebars.....loosen nut on underside of handgrip, position stemas desired, and re-tighten the nut.

The two screwsfrommy right mirror fell out on a ride one day, and the mirror started spinning around like a windmill....Next morning I sawsalled it ride off....

If you have the type that is non adjustable at the ball in back of the mirror, you are out of luck. A quality mirror is either adjustable with a couple of screws, or is very snug and can be twisted a bit. Biggest problem I had was the short stem mirrors would only reflect my arm, not much behind, no matter how much adjustment. Problem solved with a quality long stem mirror. Wider bars also help.
