Harley makes amends
I'm sure some of you remember the fiasco I had with my three week old 1200R. The one who's rims oxidized while sitting in the garage for 3 weeks. Well I finally talked to a senior factory rep and he agreed that regardless of the cause, a three week old bike shouldn't need it's rims replaced. Thank GOD the local Harley dealer's service manager bothered to check out my garage and report back favorably! The garage may not be heated, but it is dehumidified and insulated. Hell my tools have been out there for 10 years and they're not rusted! Anyway, Harley has agreed to replace the rear rim. Shame I already had the front one re-polished! Anyway, my faith in human kind has been restored! By the way, is it true the XL1200R is to be discontinued? I must say, this thing goes and handles better than I ever expected a Sportster to, and I've ridden quite a few over the last 30 years.

I got three Harleys in the house and I've got a kick stand myself.....If either of them bikes corrode I'm going to offer a pretty convincing argument in court when I strip down and display the fact I live there too and ain't yet suffered from the environment.

Glad everything worked out for you! And I think it's just the 883R that's supposedly being discontinued, but it could also be the 1200R as well. I don't think anyone will know for certain until around July, when the 2009 models come out. Anyone else heard anything concrete from the horse's mouth?
