Default Sprocket help

Ok so I have been looking around and what not and I dont do that much interstate riding and nothing over 100 or anything like that and I was thinkin about changing the sprocket out on my sporty its a 833 with a 1200 kit on the way and since it will be down might as well do some other things to, which sprocket set up is the best, I was looking to go down one size in the fron to say a 20 or a 19 I think I am not sure if that is right but would I get more doing both rear and front or just doing the one that will get me off the line better ???

The gearing on your 883 is already lower than the gearing on a 1200. If you change the engine to 1200 and just keep the 883 gears you should be plenty quick off the line. Just my .02

Agreed, an 883 is geared lower than a 1200, therefor with a 1200 kit, it will be quicker than a 1200.One thing to keep in mind, if you lower the gearing more, your gas mileage will suffer, as well as your rear tire.

Yep what they said, stick with what you got............if for whatever reason the bike doesn't seem like it's pulling very good, most likely it's not tuned right or your clutch is splipping. As you have it now, you should have more than enough torque to wheelie or burnout right off the line and as stated the 883 gearing is already fairly low.

Other optiion depending on what you did for the 1200 kit............If it was just jugs only, then think about some headwork, cams and ignition module......that's will give ya quite a boost off the line with more midrange to open throttle Power, which is a much better investment over messing with your sprocket ratios.
