Hi, i got a problem with my blinkers... First off, the person that had the bike before me had put aftermarket blinkers on the rear and they were dual bulb ( is that normal)... well they are not bright at all and i know people won't be able to see them blink.
Also, my right blinkers when i press the button the light just comes on. the whole blinker setup seems bass ackwards.
Well besides that there is dual filament lights up front and the running lights are bright and the blinkers are the dimmer filament. That doesnt seem right either...
The only thing i could possibly think is a that a blinker module or somethin olong them lines is fried and is messing everything up. Well experts... help me! lol
Well,I don't know what year/model you got, but I'd basically tell you that dual filament bulbs are standard onsportsters front and rear. Maybe the previous owner accidentally crossed wires, (+ vs. -) when sodering/re-doing plugs.
If one of the filaments is out, say the right rear, then the right front blinker will just stay lit and not blink. My suggestion... if one whole side works, pull the bulbs and switch them from right to left or vise versa to see if it is the bulb or the signal. Then, ensure you have the correct bulbs. I also found someone had put the wrong bulbs in the right rear blinker. If that don't fix it, trace the wires. I found the rear tire had partially worn through the right rear blinker wire. Once I fixed that and changed the bulb, the entire right side worked perfectly. Good luck.
Running lights should be dim, blinkers should be bright. Sounds like yours are backwards. They stay on because the control box senses a smaller draw of current for the blinkers. After you get the wiring right, if it still doesn't blink you will need a Load Equalizer II (can be purchased from the Harley stealer for $35) from Badlands. That should get them blinking.
